The matter of appointing members for the Architectural Review Commission is currently before
you. I submit this request asking that you wait upon your second appointment until you have
a choice between two or three qualified individuals.
It is of paramount importance that any advisory body representing the city have
individuals from various segments of our population. Of course, having knowledge of
architecture and design principles is required of all applicants. However, wouldn't it
be advisable to select individuals who do not have a particular 'agenda' due to their
career or organization? At risk is the appearance of lobbying for a particular base.
Such would be the case with applicant M. Fareed Shahid who is engaged with the Central Coast
Homebuilders Association.
