OBISPO'S PUBLIC ART MASTER. PLAN (STANWYCK
MUDOETT - 30 MINUTES)
I applaud the City for having a Public Art Master Plan. Our bels
Ann Ream used to say that without considering the context and
siting of public art, public art becomes "plop" art. I believe that
good idea that your "Downtown Opportunity Locations will be
subjected sometime in the future to a prioritization exercise. W]
happens I would hope that two things be considered: 1) That yc
the list of future locations to dovetail with your goal of strength
downtown pedestrian experience; and 2) That your priorities an
locations be integrated into the Downtown Concept Plan Updat
(including a creek walk masterplan), our Downtown Pedestrian
our current and/or revised History Walk and our Mission Plaza
Masterplan.
I do, however, have a few questions regarding your Downtown
Opportunity Locations. Are locations 1, 6 and 7 focussed on sp
intersections and if so why? With the exception of the Higuera/
Street intersection, I can only surmise that you consider these
intersections to be gateways. The rationale behind these locatio
be included in your report. I do, however, believe an important
location which was omitted should be at the Santa Rosa/Monte]
intersection.
