Dear Members of the SLO City Council: Tomorrow, January 10, is your budget and plannining meeting. I am writing to encourage you to fund the installation of lights at the tennis courts at Sinsheimer Park. This has been a need for many years. I have played on the Central Coast Women's Tennis League (CCWTL) for about 15 years. For the past 8 years, I have been a member of the Sinsheimer West Team. The team has the opportunity to play in the mornings, but often people can only practice after work, which is impossible at times due to unlighted courts. It's true that the high school has lighted courts, but because those are the only ones, they are often full in the evenings. This leaves people with no alternative place to play at night. As of December 2016, I am now one of the full-time workers who can only play in the evenings. I am still a substitute on the team, but in order for me to play during the week, I, like many, many others would need to have access to lighted courts. Having lighted courts not only benefits me, and those in my situation, but gives others the chance to venture on to the court in the evenings and play. It may be people who used to play, and want to get back on the courts. It could be people going with their children to hit a few balls after work. It also encourages students to go out after school and play. These kids are the future of strong, SLO tennis program. I believe adding lights to the courts will maximize their use, and increase the number of people going out on to the courts to play. Please consider funding the lights for the Sinsheimer tennis courts. Thank you for your time, Melinda Weaver COUNCIL MEETING: DECEIVED ITEM NO,: _,, JAN 0 9 2017 Sl_,[7 CITY CLERK From: Melinda Weaver [ Sent: Monday, January 09, 2017 11:32 AM To: E-mail Council Website <emaiicouncil@slocity.org> Subject: Lights at Sinsheimer Tennis Courts Dear Members of the SLO City Council: Tomorrow, January 10, is your budget and plannining meeting.
