Subject: Item 14: Safety Enhancement Zones Expansion
Dear Mayor Harmon and City Council Members,
I support the Safety Enhance Zones Expansion, and in particular, I am thankful that noise is included as an infraction. My
neighborhood has been active in building community, in particular with our student neighbors who make up about half
of our neighborhood. With the help of a City of SLO Neighborhood Matching Grant we have been holding neighborhood
social events, the first being an ice cream social in September to welcome students back, 250 people attended.
I am grateful for the City's commitment to neighborhood wellness. I do believe positive, pro -active programs and
actions help to educate residents how to be responsible neighbors. However, I think there needs to for significant
consequences for bad behaviors. I believe having strong consequences help to deter bad and harmful behaviors.
Excessive noise is harmful to the wellbeing of neighbors, even the anticipation of noise can be stressful.
Please keep noise violations in the Safety Enhance Zones Expansion.
