I also rent a house to a local SLO working family so I have been affected by the Rental Inspection Ordinance. Both I and my tenants strongly oppose the Ordinance. The Ordinance has been burdensome on me and my tenants, and it has caused the cost of rent to increase, when rent is already too expensive in SLO for a working family like my tenants. Yet the Ordinance does nothing to protect the tenants or have any positive effect on the neighborhood. The Ordinance is a violation of law as an infringement of my rights as a private property owner under the Fourth Amendment. As an individual resident I do not have the resources to defend my rights against the City, sol urge the City Council to protect my rights. In my opinion there is no way to amend the Ordinance that would be fair. I strongly urge the City Council to vote to strike down the Ordinance in full immediately. Sincerely, Robert Douglass
