I'm for safe neighborhoods, but this ordinance was a vigilante move by a small number of well organized
residents in a localized area to impose their will, persuading the City Council to act inappropriately.
It is unfortunate that this group of citizens was dumb enough to live this close to a university campus, and not to
expect to be surrounded by student housing.
I don't think students should go unchecked. But you also should have some expectations for living in
neighborhoods predominately inhabited by students..
