Subject: rental inspection disapproval
No city has any business entering any private or rental residence while it is being
occupied without a warrant. The City ordinance to inspect rental property is
unconstitutional as it is against the 4th Amendment which protects citizens against
searches. Law enforcement needs a warrant to enter a residence. The City could
require inspections between tenants. Also, the City could send letters to tenants
with a list of things that could be inspected and encourage them to notify the
landlord of any needed work.
I serve on a non-profit board which will preclude my attendance at the meeting
this evening, so I thought I'd email to convey my vehement disapproval. I call for
you to end this invasion of privacy.
