Subject: Feb 16 Rental Inspection Meeting
Honorable Mayor and Council,
I urge you to PLEASE ADOPT the Initiative Petition to REPEAL the Rental Housing Inspection Ordinance.
This ordinance is NOT good for our city and very damaging to not only to the effort of creating and retaining
low cost housing here in our city but our current work force that live and work here as well! This IS an added
tax (government program) and the cost WILL get passed on to tennants in the end ..... all legalities aside.
If you have difficulty believing me as to the shortage of affordable housing, just try to jump on the highway
(North or South) at 5:15 pm from SLO on any weekday. Literally thousands that work here have to leave to go
home to an affordable place to live elsewhere and raise their families. Not only is this tragic but extremely
dismissive and harmful to our environment as we essentially encourage a working community of daily
commuters (and their undiniably harmful tailpipe emissions) to live in outside communities. Not a healthy way
to live and work for anyone here.
