As a long term rental income property owner, I have always felt it is in everyone's best interest to maintain the top quality of our properties, with any and all improvements up to code and in compliance with the city. That is why I have always had an issued business license from the city. It still seems to me to be counterintuitive to go after the registered business license property owners. The property owners that never comply with the city in obtaining a business license, and have bootlegged their own DIY improvements are the property owners that the city should be concerned with. There are plenty of those property owners in SLO, and most of them live out of town and are absentee landlords whose properties look neglected and overgrown from the curb to the property. Many of them neither maintain their properties or report their collected revenues from those properties. Please, please, please use your voting power and influence to go after the folks that are never in compliance, and not the property owners that have maintained their properties and the rights and privacy of their tenants. Thank you, Kathleen and James Weiss
