Subject: Rental Housing Inspection Law
Mayor and City Council:
I am opposed to the existing Rental Housing Inspection Law.
I feel that the Law should be revised as follows.
1. The City should set up a totally anonymous method of reporting slumlord housing units. Then the City can
inspect those units first.
2. If it is determined that there still needs to be an inspection program I suggest removing all Condominium
Complexes that have CC&Rs that are enforced by a HOA from the inspection list. HOAs already have laws
that prevent modifications to existing units and HOAs also have the authority to inspect any unit that may have
any unsafe conditions for the residents.
