Subject: Laguna Lake Sustainablity
Dear Council Members,
For some fifty years, Laguna Lake has been shamefully neglected. The lake is a natural resource
worthy of maintaining for the pleasure of the people of San Luis Obispo and the environs.
Jonathan Lindenthaler, who has been in consultation with City Natural Resources Manager Bob Hill,
has the right idea. While it will take some time to overcome years of neglect, small steps represent a
reasonable, affordable approach. Shoreline stabilization should begin now, and the purchase of a
small dredge to be used regularly by city employees in an ongoing maintenance program is doable.
These undertakings will put us on the road to sustainability; let’s not delay another year.
