Hello Mayor and Council,
Thank you so much for your service. I imagine you don't hear those words often enough! I appreciate your
dedication and the amount of time it must take both physically and mentally to do what you do.
As an active member of the local Soccer community, I would like you to consider spreading some of the
upcoming funding to Parks and Recreation. Damon Garcia is a wonderful location, but it is in serious need of
turf renovation. Parks Maintenance has finally gotten the OK to change to a hardier turf, and that transition
should really make a positive difference.
Soccer tournaments are a great "green" source of income for our city. I help run an annual 7v7 adult fun soccer
tourney each Labor Day slofriendlysoccer.com/. It is a one day (Saturday) tournament, and we have lot's of out
of town guests that play on Saturday, then enjoy (i.e. spend money!) the central coast the rest of the 3 day
weekend.
Local clubs, and AYSO have opportunities to host tournaments, but we really need more fields to take
advantage of these types of events. I encourage you to think out side of the box and look at areas of the city
where you might be able to create even more space for sports fields.
