Subject: CHC Meeting re San Luis Ranch
Dear Commission Members;
This letter is to convey my support for the proposed San Luis Ranch project, particularly regarding the proposed use of the
existing historic structures. While I typically advocate historic structures remain in place, the applicants plan to relocate and
utilize the existing buildings in a way that enhances the building architecture and provides public access makes sense. One of
the relocated and adaptively reused buildings will be home to an agricultural heritage center to provide public educational
opportunities about the agricultural history of the region, the site, and its buildings. The agricultural heritage center as
proposed is centrally located and will provide an educational component for generations to come. I also like the connection
the proposed location has to the farm fields and how people will be able to go and buy fresh produce picked right from the
farm. I definitely think this will preserve the property's agricultural heritage more than just keeping the buildings in their
current place. As such, I do not support Alternative 3 which proposes to keep the buildings in their existing place.
I hope you will support the applicants proposed plan, particularly with regards to the mitigation measures for cultural
resources.
Sincerely,
Kevin Hauber
