Dear Mayor Harmon and Councilmembers:
I agree with Richard Schmidt that the proposed ordinance is misdirected at sewer infiltration rather than problems with
inflow. I support more homework by staff to identify the sources of storm inflows into the system which cause backups
and spillage. I'm also opposed to a fee of over $8,000 to replace sewer laterals which may not be the source of the
problems. I don't like the "trust me" tone of the staff report or the lack of comprehensive discussion of the problems
which staff want property owners to pay for solutions which they may not be causing.
Thank you and I hope you will discuss at the hearing with staff and resolve the issue.
