When it comes to government collecting and spending huge sums of money, don't you always wish they had the foresight to spend what they could afford? That they would balance the budget? Spend within the budget.? Isn't carte blanche as you are continually asked to vote for an unwise position? Don't agree to this unfair charge to residents because your city employees want to continually overspend for one thing or another. Say, no Well, there you go. Having City Manager and Staff ask you to vote for something when there is not money to do what 'they' think is necessary should be a red flag. Is there ever a time you ask them to hire fewer employees and pay fewer high salaries? That would be a start. You could continue by asking them to hire fewer consultants. 'They' seem quite skilled at spending. 'They' should become good at spending less. As far as the sewer discussion goes, surely there are experts (even within the interested resident population). As a matter of fact, there is probably more knowledge and expertise that could be of great service to you. If you continue to listen to Staff and do not believe that residents can provide other ways to look at a problem and its possible solutions, you will have overlooked your responsibility. I am aware you have people in City Government who can be convincing. There are times they misrepresent the facts and can do so very convincingly. A truly good City Council would avail themselves of a residents' experience and knowledge ... at least to take a look at a subject from another angle. What would you advise a council to do if you were not on it; if you were a resident wanting to submit a perspective worthy of consideration? You will be doing your job well when you consider residents. We need you to represent us --not Staff. We feel we have lost what we voted for. Camille Small p.s. Should I let you know how I really feel!! I
