Dear Cultural Heritage Committee,
The proposed San Luis Square project places a four-story complex next to the historic
Jack House Gardens. Providing a solar/shading study for the overall project and
specifically focusing on the adjacent Jack House Gardens area during at different day
times and all seasons is not an adequate mitigation. The Gardens, even more than the
Jack House interior, provide an authentic Victorian/Edwardian garden experience and
correctly reflect the lifestyle of the Jack/Kaetzel/Hollister families. The shear mass of
the San Luis Square project will overwhelm one of San Luis Obispo's most precious
resources.
