Subject:North Broad Area Neighborhood Park
San Luis Obispo's commitment to neighborhood parks is even more important than ever. Our
beautiful City which is such a great place to live needs MORE of these parks as families need to go
condo route or apartments to be able to afford to live here. We need families. Families usually have
children. Children need parks.
I have applauded your commitment to provide parks and recreation areas in the past. This is
responsible planning, and shows your concern for the great quality of life here. Your continuing
commitment for past two or three years to establish a Neighborhood Park in the North Board Area,
with $900,000 allotted for this is proof of your stated aims of continuing to keep SLO family friendly.
I am becoming cynical though. Although a park in this area is a City stated need and goal, you are
now considering raiding this fund to use for other purposes. It would beconducive to a healthy City if
the citizens could believe in the integrity of those persons
we elect, pay, to work toward common, (and committed) goals.
Sincerely,
Ruth Smith
