My name is Ryan and I volunteered at The Villages for a long time. I got to know many of the senior citizens
and really enjoy spending time with them. They love being outside and taking walks in the neighborhood. Some
walk on their own and others are pushed around the neighborhood in their wheelchairs.
When Rite Aid moved across the street to the other side of Foothill, many of the seniors and were sad because
they can't walk there anymore. It was a regular thing that many of them enjoyed. The van takes them now but
they miss out on the exercise and freedom of being able to walk to the pharmacy on their own
A park in the neighborhood would be hugely beneficial to these seniors (and other people in the neighborhood).
Right now there isn't any place for them to go unless they use the van to go someplace. With a park nearby, they
would be able to walk there on their own or in a wheelchair, enjoy the outdoors and visit with other people in
the community.
I know you are considering whether to take the money that was going to get the park plan started. Please don't
take the money because that neighborhood really needs the park. It would be a special place for the seniors and
a lot of other people. Thank you very much.
