Subject:Keep park funds for North Broad Neighborhood
Hon. Mayor Heidi Harmon and Councilmembers Dan Rivoire,
Carlyn Christianson, Aaron Gomez and Andy Pease
Dear Council:
I am writing today to urge you to retain the full $900,000 in the
Parkland Development Fund for purposes of acquiring land in the
North Broad Street neighborhood for a park.
Currently there are no parks west of Santa Rosa or south of
Foothill, save for the tiny Anholm park. There are many families in
these neighborhoods who would utilize a park in this area. The
previous Council saw a need for a park in this area. To revoke
funding would invalidate their research and efforts without good
reason.
Particularly as the Council has seen fit to increase the density of
housing in this neighborhood with the 71 Palomar and 22 Chorro
developments slated to move forward, it is vitally important to
increase open space to maintain a livable environment.
