Caltrans Adopts Statewide Bike and Pedestrian Plan
The pitting of a North Broad Park against Bike Blvd and Safe Routes to Schools is unwarranted
and deceptive. Pedestrian and bicycle safety have significant income sources available both
locally via Citywide Transportation Impact Fees, Local Revenue Measures and General Finds
designed for Capital Improvement Infrastructure & Transportation as well as State
Transportation Dept Act Fees and the new SB 1 Billion dollars.
Multimodal Transportation Circulation Element projects are allocated 19 million dollars (see
page A-28). Additional grant funding opportunities need to be pursued rather than raiding the
North Broad Park Fund.
The issue are not related.
