Subject:July 5 Council Meeting--Off leash dog regulations
Council Members:
A significant group of responsible dog owners (currently over 200 in number) will present a request to the
Council at the July 5, 2017 City Council meeting, asking that the Council consider a limited compromise to
allow dog owners to hike off leash with their dogs in specified open spaces which are currently limited to
walking dogs on-leash only.
We are convinced that there is a way to accomplish this, taking into consideration any potential objections
others may have, as long as the issue is approached with an open minded and “can do” attitude.
Please be aware that we are not associated any with efforts to improve or change the Laguna Lake off leash dog
park. Rather, our concern is to develop places where both owners and their dogs can hike/run without being
tethered to each other.
