I’d like to offer my unwavering support to the San Luis Ranch project. I see it as an opportunity to improve my life, as well as many other people’s lives. About 1.5 years ago, me, my boyfriend (Brandon) and our dog (Jameson) made the cross-country trip from upstate NY to the beautiful central coast. Back in NY, we had a 1200 sq/ft ranch style home with a big front and back yard, paying $1200/month (which was actually considered very high for the area). We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to make the life-changing decision to move to California due to Brandon’s job. While in NY, it was so hard to find a place to live out here, especially having a dog. We ended up in Lompoc for the first 4 months. Each of us traveling 100 miles round trip to work. We couldn’t take it anymore and were fortunate enough to find a place in Nipomo, where we currently reside. But Brandon is still commuting nearly 50 miles round trip, and me 40 miles round trip. We kept looking for a place to live in SLO, but with the little availability there was, they didn’t allow dogs and we simply cannot afford $2500/month in rent. Even though we’ve only lived on the central coast for less than 2 years, we see our future here. We have always supported and lived a very healthy lifestyle and love how easily it is to do so here than back in NY. Most of our weekends are also spent in SLO and north county for the dog beach, our various hikes, farmers markets, spending time with friends, etc. We know that SLO is one of the best counties to live in in this country; it is like no place else. It would be great to live in the city in which we work. Even being able to go home to let our dog out and play with him during our lunch would make a huge difference for us. Also, not dealing with the 101 traffic/accidents would make our day-to-day much easier and more enjoyable. We would love the opportunity to be able to afford being homeowners in SLO; being able to really build a life and start a family here. Thank you for your time in reading my email. I truly believe the San Luis Ranch project would make a significant difference to our community and environment.
