Subject:City Council 7/5 San Luis Ranch - Affordable Workforce Housing is Critical to SLO's
Healthy Growth!
Dear City Council members:
We absolutely need to encourage the expansion of affordable housing for young families who are trying to put
down roots in San Luis Obispo.
As a member of the booming local technology industry, I am fortunate to be in a high-paying career, but most
of my peers still cannot afford to live in SLO, let alone purchase a home! The local workforce should be
rewarded for contributing to the local economy. We cannot afford to let this city die by bleeding the local talent
that comes out of Cal Poly.
I urge you to support the San Luis Ranch project because if you work here, you should be able to live here. We
are losing great young professionals and families, not only to neighboring cities, but to other parts of the
country. If we want our business to continue to thrive, they need access to wonderful employees, who need to
be able to afford homes. The diverse range of affordable and workforce housing can begin to put a dent in the
supply we so desperately need!
Thank you for your consideration and forward thinking,
Tessa
