Dear City Council:
We urge you to support the San Luis Ranch project because if you grew up in San Luis Obispo
& have a job here, you should be able to own a home here. We are losing great young
professionals (such as myself) and families, not only to neighboring cities, but to other parts of
the country due to an unaffordable housing market. It is no secret that the cost of renting or
buying homes in SLO county has significantly increased over the last several years. I myself
was born and raised in SLO county and have lived here all of my life. I am a young
professional with a college education and a promising career in healthcare, and now more than
ever I am doubting my ability to own a home in San Luis Obispo, or even afford to rent one. If
we want our business to continue to thrive, they need access to wonderful employees, who
need to be able to afford homes. The diverse range of affordable and workforce housing can
begin to put a dent in the supply we so desperately need! Please consider the impact your
decision can have on the livelihood of the residents who have rooted themselves in our
beautiful home of SLO county.
Esperanza Blanco
Resident of San Luis Obispo
