On Behalf of the Performing Arts Center, I would like to thank the Council for consideration of our application to support
Family Day at the PAC, a free performance and open house at the Performing Arts Center currently scheduled for April
21, 2018. Family Day at the PAC also showcases local performing arts organizations in interactive lobby displays to
introduce young people and their families to local arts and education opportunities. This, in turn, enables the Performing
Arts Center and our local partners to develop new audiences in a casual and engaging environment.
Thanks to generous support from the PCC Grants in Aid program, the Performing Arts Center presented the first Family
Day at the PAC on April 1, 2017 with an attendance of 600, and an rsvp list of 900 (which will be used to promote this
year’s event). The free performance of "Story Pirates," brought the words and ideas of young people to life and featured
a story written by local Los Osos Middle School students. The Performing Arts Center also partnered with local
organizations including the Children’s Museum, San Luis Obispo Symphony, Music Motive, Civic Ballet and Opera SLO to
present pre-show lobby displays and pre-show performances as part of the event.
The Performing Arts Center looks forward to making Family Day at the PAC a long standing tradition in our community.
We are grateful to the PCC Grants in Aid Program for this making this event possible.
