To be clear, I am absolutely opposed to the proposal’s for traffic/bicycle flow improvement and recommend that there be no change to existing flows. My address: John Valpey 476 Chorro St. I have owned the property since 1995 but have just recently move here full time in June. I do recall the prior disaster in trying to manage traffic on Chorro, and it appears that a much bigger error is proposed. It is not apparent why this project was initially proposed, but it will upset what appears to be a functioning system adapted to by residents, commuters and bicyclist. I must also not that the bicycle traffic on Chorro is extremely light in usage. It is incomprehensible for me to think that it would be good or necessary to remove a vehicle lane which would be dedicated to bicycles in this circumstance. The major problem that could be addressed here is the method of getting San Luis Obispo citizens to and from the highway and downtown during peak commute periods. There is probably no good solutions for this given the lack of open space for traffic lanes, but reducing the capacity (restricting or slowing) does not resolve the any problem. It just creates more problems for others. I understand that we would all like a private street while living on Broad or Chorro. But we bought the property knowing what the address was and the traffic that exists and our resolve to deal with it. The system in place actually works and community residents, commuters and bicyclist are intelligent enough to make the choices that suit their needs. John Valpey 1
