Subject:Please Reject Bike Boulevard proposal
Hello- As a homeowner on Lincoln Street for over 20 years I am asking that the proposals for the 3 different
plans for the Bike Boulevard be rejected. The latest voting results show that those living in the 3 primary
neighborhoods of Lincoln, Chorro and Broad overwhelmingly do not support such a drastic altercation to our
street safety, home access, noise and traffic increase, and the ensuing monetary depreciation of home values.
I value progress and creative vision, as well I support in the utmost that we try to use alternative modes of
transportation. It appears however that a vocal minority is pushing an agenda that benefits few in comparison to
those that will be greatly inconvenienced. As an avid pedestrian I'm shocked that little or no interest is being
shown towards making these same streets and sidewalks safer for those that are unable or not interested in
biking, such as parents with strollers, the elderly and disabled, people with pets, etc..
Please proceed with caution. Disruption is a popular buzzword in industry today, but in this case disrupting
these neighborhoods for the benefit of the few is reckless. My vote continues to be keep our streets the way they
are or pay for expanded enforcement of those breaking the law on both bikes and in cars.
Bikers and pedestrians are always welcome on lovely Lincoln Street, but doubling the current car traffic is not a
welcome change. Option 3 which is traffic calming on Broad Street and Chorro is the least invasive and the
least expensive option if the City Council is zealous for this change. Make it gradual and maneagable, in the
event that this project has to be removed as it has been in other cities.
Sincerely,
Teri Sherman
