Hello Councilmembers,
First off, thank you to your staff for identifying creative ways to encourage bike travel in SLO. It's not easy to
retrofit old streets for bikes. They did a great job of providing a range of alternatives and breaking down the
pros and cons.
I bike daily throughout the Anholm neighborhood to Foothill and Downtown, and don't have any difficulties -
it's easy, convenient, and drivers and I seem to coexist well. That being said, I understand that others, especially
kids, may not feel as comfortable or have such positive experiences.
If you choose an alternative among the three proposed, I suppose I would encourage you to vote for #2, but my
real preference would be to first implement simpler traffic calming methods on Broad and Chorro (and Lincoln)
such as sidewalk bulbouts, improved striping, or raised crosswalks, for example.
Good luck with your decision-making.
Keith Miller
