Dear SLO City Council:
e,
I would like to address my professional concerns regarding the lack of housing in San Luis Obispo and its effects on
Cuesta College.
Over the last ten years, Cuesta College has had top recruits, both managers and faculty, decline offered positions due to
the cost and lack of available housing. The college has also lost employees who have left after the first or second year,
because of the cost and lack of affordable housing. The cost of recruitment and retention of employees is a significant
financial investment by the college. This appears to be a common issue with other organizations within our
community. I believe the city is already seeing long term effects of not supplying housing opportunities for young
professionals and families who want to dedicate their working lives as educators but cannot afford to live where they
work.
I am asking for you to support new housing in San Luis Obispo.
Respectfully,
Deborah
