HomeMy WebLinkAbout9/19/2017 Item 15, Cohen From:Bruce Cohen <bruce-cohen@comcast.net> Sent:Monday, To:E-mail Council Website Subject:Support Avila Ranch September 18, 2017 To the SLO City Council, I would like to express my sincere support for the proposed Avila Ranch project. I believe this is the perfect project to offer affordable housing not only to currently employed people who must work in SLO each day and are forced to live in another town because there is not sufficient affordable housing in SLO so they have a reasonable commute, but this project will also offer people retired or soon to be retired within the next 5 years the ability to have an affordable retirement home in a city and area of California they have a true love for and is at the top of their choices for a place to relocate. My wife and I have been following the news and development of this project in its early design and planning stages ever since it was first announced. With family in nearby Santa Barbara and San Francisco, The city and county of SLO couldn’t be more prefect for our next chapter of our lives. I am so impressed with all the attributes of what Avila Ranch can offer. The sustainability, eco-consciousness, water conservation, more than ample open space and parks, the beautiful blend of housing types mixed with some retail and other services, additional tax dollars to the City & County, and so, so much more. To me, this community couldn’t be a more perfect development for the re-use of this land and the improvements it will be bring to the infrastructure of this area. It appears that the advantages strongly outweigh the list of negatives. I urge the City Council to approve this project and let the developer finally start to build the infrastructure. Please don’t disappoint all the people who work in SLO and want to live there as well, and people like my wife and myself whose dream it is to retire to the magnificent city of SLO and the county. Sincerely, Bruce Cohen 1
