Dear SLO City Council: Heidi Harmon, Dan Rivoire, Andy Pease, Aaron Gomez, and Carlyn Christianson,
I am writing to support the Avila Ranch proposal. I moved here in 1996 to attend Cal Poly and have lived on the Central
Coast ever since. However, in recent years I have been pushed out of being able to afford living in San Luis Obispo City
itself. I am an established architect and have worked in downtown SLO for 9 years. I am single with 2 school aged
children who attend school in SLO. I would love more than anything to move back to SLO with my children so that we may
reduce our dependence on cars and return to our biking lifestyle we had prior to being priced out of SLO and moving
elsewhere in the County.
A project like Avila Ranch offers a variety of housing options that a professional such as myself could benefit from. The
sustainable focus on open space, water conservation, and agricultural preservation creates an excellent precedent for
future, mindful, developments in the City as well.
Please support the Avila Ranch proposal so members of the community such as myself may return to SLO and contribute
to our sustainable goals.
