HomeMy WebLinkAbout9/19/2017 Item 15, Bellefontaine Subject:FW: City Council meeting Sept 19 From: Kathleen Bellefontaine \[ ] Sent: Monday, September 18, 2017 3:54 PM To: Codron, Michael <mcodron@slocity.org> Cc: Roger Randall COA co-Chair < Subject: City Council meeting Sept 19 Good afternoon: I am contacting you to advocate on behalf of low income seniors ( single: $15,850—$42,250 and couple $18,100 – $48,250) for inclusion of Senior Housing in the Avila Ranch Project. In addition, for the well being of people in their 70s,80s,90,s 100s- the inclusion of a fully equipped Senior Center with activities from fitness to learning to fun within walking or rolling distance. The SLO County Commission on Aging has been advocating for senior friendly communities in the County for the last 10 years. We have participated in 2 Housing Element endeavors (thus the above Income definitions from the 2014-19 Element). I refer you to Chaper 4-22, Program HE 1.N. “Amend ordinances to facilitate development of senior-friendly communities and housing suitable for the County’s aging population.” Recently members have suggested we should contact you, Michael. So that is what I am trying to do at the last minute. I am not a well-seasoned advocate...as I guess is obvious. I hope that YOU will be able to attend a Commission on Aging meeting, 3rd Fri of the month at the SLO Vets Hall, in the near future and help us understand the obstacles we are up against in trying to have our message heard. Sincerely, Kathleen Bellefontaine SLOCOA co-Chair 805 235-5779 1
