Dear Committee Members,
I am aware that there has been considerable debate (and publicity) surrounding the large grey building on
Marsh Street, built and occupied by Stallworks Construction Company. I have no doubt that there are many individuals
who both like and dislike the color of the building. I think this is completely irrelevant, however, to the far more basic
issue of whether the color of the building is consistent with the renderings that were presented to, and approved by, the
Review Committee.
I have had several interactions with various city advisory boards, and to the best of my knowledge, my issues
were reviewed in a manner that was fair and consistent with city regulations. I would be deeply disturbed (and very
resentful) to think that decisions were made based on my prominence in the community, my financial status, or my
sense of entitlement.
As someone who makes an effort to respect and comply with city regulations, I do NOT believe that it is “better
to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission." I believe ‐ very strongly ‐ that the same set of rules should apply to us
all, and should be enforced accordingly.
