Mayor and Council Members,
Please preserve our open space and do not change the hours of use for our trails. The hiking trails
around San Luis Obispo are such a special addition to what we have to offer are local population as
well as visitors. It is the City Council’s responsibility to make decisions that can preserve our city
and environs for future generations. Our natural habitat is fragile in California as seen by fires and
flooding that we have experienced so severely during the last year. Our trails are part of the natural
habitat that is trying to survive in our changing climate. Protect our open space the best you
can. Additionally based on my experience in my career I cannot believe that the Fire, Police and
Rangers in our city will not be impacted by this change. I know that these agencies do not need
the additional responsibility of adding night hours to this trail. Again please preserve our open
space by not changing the hours of use of Cerro San Luis Natural Reserve. Thank you for your time.
