Subject:Item 10 - Open space hours
Dear Mayor Harmon and City Council,
I urge you reject the proposal to open up Cerro San Luis to nighttime use during the winter months
(or at any time of the year).
This is a sensitive habitat for plants and animals, and already is one of the most heavily used and
traversed open space areas in our city.
The disruption to this habitat at night and the safety concerns for those who would hike or bike these
trails after dark (criminal or accidental) far outweighs the few additional hours of recreation this may
afford for a few members of our community.
Please scuttle this proposed pilot program and keep our city's open space hours as they are now.
