Dear Mayor Harmon and Council Members,
As a long time San Luis Obispo resident, tax payer, family man, and mountain biker, I
would like to make sure that it is clear that image that some may have of mountain bikers
as teenagers hurling themselves down the mountain with reckless abandon is simply not
accurate. Mountain biking on Cerro San Luis is primarily cross country riding as opposed
to downhill mountain biking which usually involves a ski lift or a place where people can
use their car to shuttle bikes back up the mountain. Of course there is just as much
downhill as there is uphill in cross country riding and there is always some risk involved
but the lights today are so bright and cost effective it offers the opportunity for those of us
who ride to continue to stay active in our sport during this time of year when there is no
sunlight after work. I just heard of this pilot program today and I urge you to move forward
with it. I actually think it would be great to extend it to Irish Hills as well.
Thank you for your time and commitment to our community,
David Good
