Honorable Lady Mayoress and City Council members:
At tonight's meeting you will be discussing the issue of plastic water bottles. I have noted that a company called
ProudWater has written you proposing that SLO adopt aluminum bottles in their stead. Do inform yourselves about this
alternative, which is not always safe, and has been linked to Alzheimers. You might want to refer to
"paystolivegreen.com".
May you judge well in these matters, as it can be complex, and needs careful consideration. There are other cities and
countries (e.g. the United KIngdom under the aegis of Prince Charles) fighting a war on plastic, and we do indeed need
to free ourselves from the tyrant of plastic.
However, we must take care in promoting which alternative is best for the planet and its human stewards.
