Especially ones that are don’t fit in with the architecture that has existed in out downtown for decades and is slowly being destroyed by the new square boxes! What happened to the unique architecture minds of the past? Gee, one of the first things a kid learns to draw is a box, apparently that’s all that’s being taught now. Architects used to be artists, the creativity and craftsmanship of building is becoming a lost art. How very sad. Case in point: San Luis Square. Too big, too tall, too square, too modern and do we really need more retail and commercial spaces in our downtown and outlying areas when there’s already so many empty ones? I think not! Yes, they may want to build some housing into the project but no matter how small they make them, the majority of the people that work downtown won’t be able to afford them. And another hotel? Isn’t what’s happening on Garden St. bad enough? I miss the parking lot on Broad St. It was so convenient even if not always easy to find a spot. Without it, it’s even harder. And to read in the Trib Sunday that they want to put a 60 ft. high wall next to The Jack House? What drugs are they on? How many brides are going to want to get married in the garden with a glass wall next to them? That will hurt the finances that weddings at The Jack House bring into our city. I wonder how one gets on the approval committee? I would love to be on it to help stop this travesty of building. Once again, stop the big money developers from ruining our city. If one wants another Santa Barbara with many many empty storefronts now and more blight, then take a day trip, don’t bring it here! Thank you, Lisa Leutwyler Sent from Lisa's iPad ? 1
