Mr. Davidson,
My family and I live on Buchon Street near Nipomo, within a few blocks of the corner where this proposed project is
located. Points raised about it's overall mass and height, and it's location next to the Jack House are all in my mind well-
founded. It's monolithic, and from the renderings I have seen out of proportion with this part of town. I think if you were
to speak to several longtime residents like ourselves, the preponderant view would be that you are changing the
character of the town at warp speed.
The year before last I was involved in a public planning session at the library tasked to review proposed city
development plans and comment as a group and ultimately as one of several groups, to then quantify the factors most
important to the community. They were: infill without sprawl, maintaining views of our hills and mountains from many
points around downtown, seeing to parking FIRST before creating more demand, creating sustainable smart well-fitting
projects, protecting natural resources and city icons, producing smart close-in housing.
Honestly, I fail to see where the current direction for development has come from when evaluated keeping the above
goals in mind. San Luis Square, like Hotel Serra (at this point in the construction) seem woefully short on SLO charm and
long on a lack of toeing to the above goals.
