Architectural Review Commission
SLO U40 is a non-partisan and non-affiliated organization that brings together passionate
people who are driven to improve how we all live, work and play on the Central Coast.
In regard to the proposed development of San Luis Square located on Marsh and Higuera, we
are in support of the following aspects of this project. This mixed-used project aligns with a
number of our values:
1. Housing: We support more affordable access and creative solutions to housing-related
issues so that all citizens can work, live and play here. Increasing density near
downtown with small affordably sized units supports the workforce community SLO U40
advocates for.
2. Transportation: We support multimodal efforts such as bike riding and bus routes that
are environmentally friendly. We endorse the central location of this development along
bus routes and the sufficient number of bicycle spaces.
3. Culture/Lifestyle: We advocate for initiatives that promote cultural experiences and
diversity in our community, which San Luis Square will provide.
In-fill projects like San Luis Square assist the City in addressing the local housing shortage.
While we support this project, SLO U40 would like to see other considerations incorporated in
this project such as renewable energy utilization.
With approval of San Luis Square, we hope to provide citizens with more affordable, accessible,
and environmentally-thoughtful housing options in the City of San Luis Obispo.
Sincerely,
Dale Stoker
