Rain water capture system property tax exclusion. Notice of Support Dear Senator Glazer: The City of San Luis Obispo supports SCA 9, which would allow for the exclusion of rainwater capture systems from property tax assessment and remove financial barriers that discourage homeowners from utilizing rainwater capture systems. California's long-term prosperity and success are dependent on a holistic approach for stewardship and responsible management of natural resources by government agencies, businesses, and citizens. The utilization of rainwater capture systems within communities across California will allow for increased resiliency and sustainability of water resources while reducing impacts on groundwater and surface water sources. Removing barriers to the use of these systems could be one of many factors that helps California preserve its water resources and further statewide efforts toward Making Water Conservation a California Way of Life. For these reasons, the City of San Luis Obispo supports SCA 9 and applauds your leadership on this important matter. Sincerely, Heidi Harmon Mayor City of San Luis Obispo Cc: San Luis Obispo City Council State Senator Bill Monning, fax: (916) 651-4917, http://sdl7.senate.ca.gov/ State Assembly Member Jordan Cunningham, fax: (916) 319-2135, https://ad35.asmrc.org/ Dave Mullinax, League of California Cities, dmullinax(a),cacities.org Meg Desmond, League of California Cities, mdesmond(icacities.org
