Thank you, Rachel Cohen Associate Planner Community Development 919 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401-3218 E rcohen@slocity.org T 805.781.7574 slocity.org From: joe/carol \[ ] Sent: Wednesday, February 28, 2018 8:31 AM To: Cohen, Rachel <rcohen@slocity.org> Subject: parking garage Dear Rachel Cohen, I just read the Tribune article regarding a new parking garage on Palm/Nipomo streets. Yes, definitely more parking is needed. HOWEVER, please make sure that whoever designs this parking garage is NOT the same group that designed the one on 919 Palm adjacent to the Library. That garage is dysfunctional. The spaces are too small, the lanes are too narrow, and the two-way (same lanes going up as coming down) lanes are ridiculous. Even with a mid-sized car, going up or coming down, one cannot make a corner turn if one meets another vehicle at the same point. One of the vehicles literally 1 has to back up to the let the other vehicle pass. We don't have a large car so I can't imagine how SUVs or trucks deal with the situation. Also, we parked in there one busy evening and there were no spaces available on any level. When we left, we asked the attendant why there wasn't a "No Vacancy" sign out front. They told us that they were not allowed to put one up! I don't know if she was misinformed or misunderstood the ruling. So, in the meantime, cars were driving around aimlessly believing that there were spaces available. We will not park there again. Thank you for your time and I hope this was helpful, Carol Lorenzini Arroyo Grande 2
