I am in support of this project because I think our town needs more affordable housing however affordable housing is only available to renters who, commonly, have two incomes, therefore two cars. And after the first 10 years any housing rent that is below market value, new tenants are replaced at full market value. The value of the lower commercial space in the form of city revenues is fantastic. But they will need to designate additional parking spaces for these customers.Empty commercial space it’s not valuable in the form of city tax revenue. And,the number of parking spaces that the builder is proposing in this new building is only sufficient for the number of renters for the reasons I stated above.Humans are not commonly patient people and therefore will not wait for a lift system to load their car in and out of the building. They will find other surrounding area parking to park their vehicles. This structure should be built with a parking structure with ramps and not a lift system. When I speak of alternate parking locations I speak of the parking lot that serves the customers other Foothill Plaza. The property owners and businesses in the center will not allow this. This project should only be approved with a parking ramp system and additional parking spaces designated for commercial that are in addition to the 155 that are currently being proposed.
