June 28th special meeting, item 1.
Dear Planning Commission Members,
I just read Mila Vujovich-La Barre's letter on the San Luis Ranch development, and I support her arguments
regarding so-called "affordable housing", water, and traffic. Her letter also triggered an on-going concern of
mine regarding schools. As far as I know, none of the numerous development projects that are being projected
in SLO include new schools, and this will create a huge problem in the future. Schools in the northwestern part
of the city are packed. Pacheco with more than 500 students took over the Teach school campus which had less
than 200 students. Teach found a temporarily respite at Bishop Peak, but was kicked out again because Bishop
Peak could not handle so many students. In my opinion, building several large developments that do not
include at least one new school in the south is irresponsible, not only because of the burden it will impose on the
families living there, but also because of the pollution and the chaos it will bring to other neighborhoods.
Sincerely,
Odile Ayral
