Planning Commission:
The San Luis Ranch project will be built on one of the most desirable San Luis Obispo locations for the retired
workforce. This land is exceptionally desirable for the elders in our community because of it is FLAT! But also
good for families –bike, stroller & walker paths! The land is close enough to downtown SLO for community
transport that keeps these seniors vital in their 80’s and 90’s-- without the need for cars. The project shows
plans for a Community Center that old and young alike can enjoy. For folks, in the last 20 years of life,
engagement in a community is vital to offset the loneliness that comes with isolation.
Speaking for the many Seniors that have contacted the SLO County Commission on Aging about their need for
Affordable housing in the last decades of their lives—I hope your Ranch will find a way to include our healthy
elders who have been the foundation of the uniqueness that draws citizens of the World to our City. ADU’s are
not the solution!
