Carr <ccarr@calpoly.edu> Sent:Tuesday, July To:CityClerk; Advisory Bodies Subject:JULY 11, 2018 PLANNING COMMISSION-159 & 161 North BROAD STREET REZONING, ITEM 2 Dear Planning Commissioners, We are a family of five living on Mission Lane in San Luis Obispo. I am a Cal Poly professor. My wife is a nurse at Sierra Vista. Together we've cobbled together a combined livable wage to support ourselves and three young children. We've lived on Mission Lane for nearly 20 years now. Along with our neighbors we worked very hard to be able to buy/afford and improve the property and neighborhood we now live in. We again ask that you place the S Overlay on the entire Bressi Estate property (159 and 161 North Broad Street) making it R-1-S and C/OS/20-S as part of the citywide rezoning. This will provide extra protection for an important portion of San Luis Mountain located within the city and its wildlife, habitat, wildlife corridor, seasonal streams, views, natural resources and allow wildlife to access the habitat of Old Garden Creek. Habitat connectivity is extremely important and once and if the wildlife corridor is gone, that’s it, which will truly be a sad loss and day for San Luis Obispo. It’s important that we protect the entire wildlife corridor to the fullest extent possible. We need to look out not just for present day residents of San Luis Obispo, but future generations as well. We residents of the neighborhood were assured of this S Overlay in 2015 and this property will now conform with the General Plan and COSE as recommended by city staff. Thank you, Chris and Brenda Carr 624 Mission Lane SLO, CA 93405 Cell: 805 801 7975 1
