San Luis Obispo City Planning Commission,
I am writing to ask that you reconsider your recent recommendation to extend the current Downtown zoning
standards up Monterey Street to the railroad overpass. As you know, there is widespread and deeply‐felt
opposition to the current construction of high‐rise buildings in San Luis. And a certain amount of head‐
scratching puzzlement about why the Planning Commission and the City Council regularly approve such plans,
given the popular sentiment in favor of a slower, more tempered rate of growth, a pattern and pace of growth
that might save something of San Luis’ much‐loved and widely‐admired small town feel. Save our city and
save our faith in local government.
