Subject:Planning commission 7-25-18 item 1 790 Foothill
Dear commissioners,
This project must have a new traffic study, not just an updated one from outdated numbers. It must be done when all
students from Cal Poly, Cuesta and SLOCUSD are in attendance. The Chorro-Broad-Foothill intersection is already a high
collision site and the lack of parking at these two student dormitories will have an adverse effect on the safety of this
area and the quality of life of the current, long time residents of the area.
Unfortunately the ARC at their meeting was told that they could not address the issues of parking, traffic congestion,
division of bedrooms, blocking of view sheds, project setbacks and height.
They were told to focus on colors and siding materials. Architecture is more than that.
The health and safety of the neighborhood must be the issue before the planning commission. Many others have
written quoting the General Plan and CEQA requirements which I hope you have read.
Our city does not need luxury dorms for wealthy students. We need true affordable housing for our workers, our older
citizens, our homeless.
Sincerely,
Ted and Roberta Foster
