Subject:Anholm Bikeway Plan
Advisory Body,
I want to give my opinion regarding the Anholm Bikeway Plan one last time before the PC hearing tonight (August 14,
2018) which I will not be able to attend. I am vehemently opposed to any proposal that eliminates any on street
parking on either side of Chorro St. in order to facilitate construction of a dedicated two way bike lane. Elimination of
any on street parking on Chorro St. will disrupt our “neighborhood” which requires on street parking in front of our
homes. Almost all the homes on Chorro St. have single lane driveways. Imagine if no street parking, the inconvenience
of a two car family having to move their cars in and out of the driveway if the lead car needs to get out and the other car
does not. Throw in guest cars coming to visit and you have a mess! I have no problem with proposals for “calming
devices” along Chorro St. to slow traffic if everyone agrees that is a good idea.
We have been enjoying the “normalcy” of our neighborhood with on street parking on both sides of the street forever,
as do many other neighborhoods, old and new, throughout SLO. It will be unfair to subject just our neighborhood to the
hardships caused by any loss of on street parking, while other neighborhoods are not affected.
