Without information how three large Student Housing units in the immediate area will effect the increase in volume of traffic and parking. This need to force people who need their cars in an older neighborhood where driveways and garages are inadequate is perplexing. There nothing I can find that road sharing is not working in this neighborhood the way it is. This crazy need to force people out of their cars so our area becomes an entertain venue for cyclists is short sighted. Safety issues should be addressed first. Street lights and handicap curbs and relocating power/utility poles to widen sidewalks should be completed well before a bike boulevard is implemented. Most wheel chair occupants need to use the roadways on Chorro and Broad to avoid the dips driveways cause going to the street. There are several places that wheel chairs and baby carriages are forced into the streets because the narrowing of the sidewalks by utility poles. Putting speeds humps and bulb outs only makes the situation more difficult and hazardous. The need for these safety issues have been sorely neglected over the years and the residents need these safety issues met now before anything else takes place. I've used this example before, but it till makes sense- Broad St. and Chorro are like the deep ends of a swimming pool, and Lincoln is a safer shallower end for people without the experience. Filling in the deep end of the pool so all are safe is not fair to the residents who live here. Use crossroads and less traveled streets for cyclists. Please reject anything until the safety issues for the neighborhood are met first. Is this just for public record? Or are these letters actually a consideration for decisions made? Thank You, Nancy Pickering from Broad St of Anholm 1
